2014 SX Round 1, Manchester, England

Manchester is the home of British Cycling, with a fantastic indoor facility comprising of a track cycling centre as well as a full BMX and SX track.

This was the first stop on the 2014 SX World Cup calendar, and the rider load was extreme, with over 140 entries in the Men category, this meant that only 1st or 2nd in the three qualifying heat was needed to go through to the final 48 who would join the 16 top UCI Points ranked riders in the race.

This was Liam's first SX event, and as a first year Junior, coming up against the top Elite Men in the world was challenging enough. Having had previous training camps on the track, this gave Liam an advantage during practice, however, having said that, just about everybody had at some point over the winter season been to Manchester on training camps.

In the qualifying heats, Liam raced positively, and managed to cross the line mid-field, qualifying him in 101st place overall.

The experience gained racing against the top riders was incredible, and thanks to all those who assisted. #BDR, #MKBIKESHOP, #ZupinMotorSport, #Leatt and to coach #FlorianLudewig.
