BMX BUNDESLIGA, Rounds 7 & 8

Kornwestheim, Germany

The final two rounds of the German Bundesliga Series were on the newly, Tom Ritz, re-built track in Kornwestheim.

With Axel leading the overall rankings in the Boys 15/16 class, and Liam lying in third in the Bundesrangliste as of 2 September 2014.

The track was challenging and it took some solid practice laps to come to terms with it.

Saturday morning saw the time-trial event starting early, and with Axel going last as current leader, all the pressure was on him. Tobias Meyer put in a blistering lap, crossing the line in 38,96 seconds, the first to go under 39 second for the day. At the line the clock stopped on 38,95, giving Axel victory by the narrowest of margins.

Liam put in a reasonable lap, and took the safe option over the pro-section, coming home with a reasonable time which saw him finish 6th in the time-trial.

Racing was well drawn out with the inclusion of the Novice riders for the first time at a Bundesliga event. Axel had solid motos and qualifiers to make it through to the mains. Liam on the other hand had a tough time , finishing 4 in the first moto (which included the pro-section) then got 3rd in the second moto (no pro-section) after protests by the Elites that the entry into the second corner was effectivly only 1m wide on the landing of the last jump coming from the pro-straight, and the officials saw too much danger and opted for the ametuer line. In the third moto, Liam unclipped twice, fininshing 8th and ending his day.

Axel lined up in gate one for the finals, but a bad gate had him fighting down the first straight, but he managed to sneak in and take the holeshot into turn one, and then lead it all the way home for the win.
